Thank You Wi-Fi Community from CWNE #510!
In the CWNP and WLAN Pros Community, You're Never a Lone Soldier

A big thank you to the Wi-Fi Community. Five years ago, I set off on a journey with a really thick CWNA book, and a desire to become knowledgeable on Wi-Fi. Fast forward to today, I'm happy and pleased to announce, I earned and received CWNE #510.
A brief history:
Working on a team of network engineers, Wi-Fi was the unwanted problem/issue. As such, I was “volun-told” to fix Wi-Fi on campus. My first Wi-Fi class was WiTs, taught by Rick Murphey (CWNE #10) who opened my world to CWNP. Not long after, I learned about WLAN Pros. From there, I found and watched Matt and Mac’s videos at wifininjas.net (I devoured each and every video). I watched bundles of Keith Parson’s (CWNE #3) videos and ALL of the WLAN Pros presentations I could nab. I would be remiss not to mention my very first design class, taught by none other than Troy Martin (CWNE #90), and Peter MacKenzie’s (CWNE #33) Certified Wireless Analysis Professional (CWAP).
I became a pioneer for Wi-Fi on our university campus--bringing design, rationale and best practices- all of which were learned and taken from the giving and generous Wi-Fi community. I understand it’s my job to contribute to the great work and foundations they have provided. I have big shoes to fill.
After passing all the requisite exams, it came time to apply for the CWNE. I'm grateful to my peers for graciously recommending and vouching for my work. Unfortunately, the essays made me as nervous as long-tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs! What to do? I wanted to write the three essays in such a way that, each reader could easily rubber-stamp and accept each submission without hesitation.
Clearly, at the very least, I aimed to author solid, acceptable essays. Laughably, my first drafts were pretty rough—and thus the reason we refer to the first draft as a “rough draft!”.
Seeing as we are in the 21st century, I reached out to the community through Twitter and requested help. I wasn’t sure what to expect…
So…what happened? Our army—YOU!--showed up in a big way to help. A HUGE ‘THANK YOU’ goes out to CWNP, the organization, its founders and board/advisors. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to be my readers and folks that are my guides:
Keith Parsons (CWNE #3);
John Waas (CWNE #448);
Gjermund Raaen (CWNE #493);
Darrell DeRosia;
Raymond Hendrix (CWNE #274);
Neil Mac (CWNE #113);
Jeet Kulkarni (CWNE #441);
Stephen Cooper ((CWNE #276) for his CWNE guidance video & support);
Martin Ericson (CWNE #148)

A special thanks goes out to John Waas (CWNE #448)--everyone needs a John Waas in their corner!
